Nifelheim – Envoy of Lucifer (CD/LP)
They still haven’t released one single bad song, and this fourth gem is naturally a total fucking killer of a black metal album! My favourite song thus far is Evil is Eternal. And Storm of The Reaper (Hail the hordes!). And Gates of Damnation. And so on…
Along with the massive creations from Watain, Deathspell Omega, Glorior Belli, Archgoat and Black Flame,
this is a glorious year for truly amazing black metal.
(The Archgoat
and Black Flame albums were released in 2006, but what the hell…)

Witchcraft – The Alchemist (CD/LP)
Pure magick as always.

Om – Pilgrimage (CD)
My first impression of Om when I heard their debut, Variations On A Theme, was: this is so boring, so dull, so standard. I still feel that way about that album.
On Conference of The Birds something happened. They found their vibe, and that vibe is in full blossom on Pilgrimage. So damn good.

Electric Wizard – Witchcult Today (CD)
Wow, there’s so much doom on this list now it’s almost scary, but I just had to include this one. They always deliver.

Primordial – To The Nameless Dead (CD)
I dreamt I got this album yesterday. It was mindblowing.
Can’t wait to hear the real thing.

Weakling – Dead As Dreams (CD)
Not my kind of black metal. Too weak. Too much crying. Sorry.

Letters From Iwo Jima
Superb war/drama movie about courage, life and death in WWII as seen though the eyes and minds of the Japanese warriors on the Iwo Jima island.
Directed by Clint Eastwood, who also did Flags of Our Fathers.

Sun-Tzu – The Art of Warfare
I got hold of what seems to be one of the very best editions of this fantastic text,
the one translated by Roger Ames.
